As a small consultancy, Compliance Assist offers hands-on, customised services and support for clients that ensures systems are designed to suit the individual business and associated compliance requirements.

Compliance Assist does not sell or promote ‘off the shelf’ systems and, in fact, do not believe that an effective or sustainable system can be achieved this way. Instead the Compliance Assist approach entails spending the time necessary to understand individual business needs and integrate existing conforming processes and procedures into the new, revitalised system, minimising disruption.

Key to ongoing compliance is embedding systems for the long-term and through the expert consultancy services of Compliance Assist, businesses stay on track to full compliance. By conducting a thorough review to identify potential risk areas, Compliance Assist is able to provide constructive feedback and recommendations, as well as leading the implementation of business solutions.

Maree Thorne

Maree Thorne is a compliance, audit and business solutions expert with extensive professional experience across a range of sectors. Compliance Assist was formed in 2012 with the goal of providing specialist consultancy services to organisations seeking practical systems design and guidance to meet compliance requirements.

Maree will personally manage all projects, including those where additional operational support is required. Through many years of experience, Maree is adept at turning strategies into actions, taking businesses through compliance processes step-by-step, saving time, money and delivering optimal results.

Prior to Compliance Assist, Maree worked within the Vocational Education and Training environment for more than 15 years as a trainer and senior manager, both within Australia and internationally.

For more than five years Maree successfully managed the complex compliance and regulatory frameworks for a large TAFE Institute including:

• Institute registration compliance and conducting internal educational audits against the national standards.
• Contractual compliance, procedural and system auditing. Ensuring and assuring regulatory authorities that contractual processes and contract terms and conditions were met including State and Commonwealth contract conditions.
• Ensuring AVETMISS compliance.
• Developing organisational capability in compliant processes and fostering a culture of quality.
• Financial assurance through comprehensive system appraisals and internal reviews.
• Ensuring certification of the Institute's Quality Management System and maintaining certification to ISO 9001:2008.
• Managing external and departmental compliance and system audits.
• Driving system and process improvement projects with stakeholders.
• Analysis of data and research to identify areas for improvement.
